As the Texas High School football season progresses and excitement builds, we aim to highlight those players who truly deserve recognition.

Numerous media outlets focus solely on the top three-star-plus athletes. Our goal is to assist all athletes who merit the spotlight and have the potential to advance their academic and athletic careers at the next level, providing them with a platform to display their talents and abilities. Rally Preps serves as that platform.

We are actively searching for hidden gems, prospects who are not receiving adequate coverage or appreciation but deserve it due to their skills and talents. Our coverage extends beyond just the top athletes to include everyone in between, giving them an opportunity to pursue college football. Many of our subscribers and viewers include college coaches from various institutions, ranging from elite Division I schools to Division II and lower.

Below are a few quarterbacks we hope to enhance their chances of being recruited to the next level, allowing them to continue their aspirations of playing college football while obtaining an education.

Jayden Maples, QB, Wakeland, 6-1.5 / 195

Jayden had a breakout season in 2024, throwing for over 3,000 yards and 30 touchdowns (per his hudl). At nearly 6-foot-2, and 195lbs. Jayden checks off a lot of the boxes already as a next-level quarterback with his size and arm talent. Features a live arm with a quick release and can fire the football to every level of the field. On throws over the middle, towards the sideline, and deep downfield, Maples showcases his velocity and touch on passes. The deep ball is there, can still be improved upon; however, Jayden is still able to hit receivers deep downfield and in stride. Displays good ball placement and can put the football only were his receivers can make a play on the ball. As a runner flashes speed and agility at times, with the ability to pick up yardage. Still, would be more considered as a pocket passing quarterback who can sit back and pick apart defenses from the pocket. Rated a three-star prospect who currently has three offers from Arkansas State, Southern Miss, and SFA.

Cole Taylor, QB, Pflugerville, 6-4 / 210

Cole is a three-star prospect who is flying largely under the radar at the moment. A breakout season is on the horizon for this multi-sport athlete who plays basketball and football. At 6-foot-4, 210lbs, Taylor has the size and arm talent to be a strong division I prospect for many college programs across the country. Works the pocket beautifully, hitches up while keeping his eyes downfield, and can launch the football deep downfield and hit receivers fifty yards plus with ease. A big-time arm with plenty of strength and velocity on all throws at every level. Cole can make corner endzone throws, throws over the middle, and knows when to take a bit off lob passes to hit his playmakers. Speed and agility is there, Taylor can pick up yards on the ground or through the air. Overall, a strong Division I caliber recruit who will go on to do special things on Saturdays.

Kaden Stefek, QB, Hutto, 6-3 / 197

At 6-foot-3 and 197 lbs, Stefek has plenty of size to add more mass to his lean athletic frame at the next level. He features quick strike ability and doesn’t need to step into throws to deliver a deep pass, hitting receivers downfield with a flick of the wrist. Kaden’s throwing mechanics and footwork have improved dramatically this season, and the offseason work he put in is evident in the plays he has put on tape so far. His accuracy and velocity have seen significant improvement, allowing Stefek to place the ball perfectly where only his receivers can catch it and make a play. He fits the ball into tight windows and can throw beautifully on the run while rolling out to either side of the field. His speed and agility have also improved dramatically this season, enabling Stefek to torch defenses through the air or on the ground.

Josh Greek, QB, Frisco Heritage, 6-5 / 215

Greek has the prototypical size of a next-level quarterback at 6-foot-5 and 215 lbs, along with the arm talent to back it up. He has added more lean mass to his lengthy athletic frame this offseason. His footwork and mechanics have also improved. Josh has quick-strike ability and gets the ball out quickly to his playmakers with ease. He is proficient in the short to intermediate passing game. Last season, he proved his ability to make plays and get the ball downfield to his receivers.

Kinnick Kalbus, QB, Stony Point, 6-0 / 180

Kinnick can launch the football and make easy underneath throws with plenty of touch and accuracy. He throws well on the run and can deliver a strike while rolling outside of the pocket. Corner end zone throws and passes at seemingly every level of the field appear routine for Kalbus. He delivers the ball from various angles and fits passes into tight windows, picking up first downs or touchdowns with his legs or arm. His speed and agility seem elite. Kinnick appears to be a dual-threat quarterback who looks to pass first but can also execute designed plays or improvised runs that result in touchdowns.

Frans Steyn, QB, San Marcos, 6-5 / 205

Steyn enters this season with Division I interest that could lead to a breakout recruiting year. He has no shortage of arm strength and can easily launch the football over fifty yards down the field, hitting receivers in stride. He can also roll outside the pocket and deliver a catchable ball. Currently flying largely under the radar, he is poised to make a name for himself this season. His footwork and throwing mechanics appear elite, allowing him to place the ball with surgical precision, hitting receivers near the sidelines. He can throw off-platform and shows the ability to pick up first downs with his legs. His speed and agility are proficient, but he can also sit in the pocket and dissect defenses. He is a Division I caliber prospect who could thrive at various college football programs with further development.

Legend Howell , QB , DeSoto , 6-2 / 170

Legend has had a great high school career so far, and his resume is impressive. He has played all four years on varsity for DeSoto, which is no easy feat on a team with so much talent. Howell has quick-strike ability with his fast release of the football. He can hit receivers deep downfield, over the middle, or toward the sideline with plenty of accuracy and velocity. He delivers a catchable football with great touch, dropping it perfectly into the hands of receivers. He can hit the end zone corner and make back shoulder throws, proving he is undoubtedly an FBS to FCS Division I caliber recruit who can torch defenses.

Cobyn Harbert , QB , Frisco , 6-3 / 190

A quarterback who can launch the football from the pocket or while on the run. He has plenty of arm strength, velocity, and accuracy on all throws. He easily hits deep passes and connects with receivers downfield with just a flick of the wrist. He avoids pressure in the pocket well, makes defenders miss, and picks up first downs and yardage with his speed and agility as a runner. Cobyn is undoubtedly a Division I prospect flying under the radar and could end up playing on Saturdays.
