District 5-6A is shaping up to be a battleground once again in 2025. With a mix of traditional powerhouses and fast-rising programs, this district brings physical football, high-scoring offenses, and next-level talent to the forefront. From playoff-tested squads to hungry underdogs looking to make a statement, every week promises big moments and bigger stakes. As we look ahead to the 2025 Texas high school football season, here’s what to expect from one of the state’s most unpredictable and exciting districts.

Coppell

2024 Recap: The Coppell Cowboys delivered a dominant 2024 campaign, finishing with a 12-1 overall record and an unblemished 7-0 mark in district play to claim the 6A-5 district title. With a perfect 7-0 record at home and a top-three ranking in the state of Texas, the Cowboys proved to be one of the most complete teams on both sides of the ball—scoring 564 points while allowing just 264. Coppell’s season was a statement of consistency, discipline, and elite execution. Nationally ranked No. 76, this squad showed they belong in any conversation about Texas high school football’s top-tier programs.

Scouting Report: The top returning starter for the Cowboys is the class of 2028 quarterback Carter Zingelmann, QB, 6-5 / 215, with five early Division I offers.

Braswell

2024 Recap: The 2024 season was a challenging one for the Braswell Bengals, who finished with a 2-8 overall record and 1-6 in district play, placing 7th in one of the state’s toughest districts. Despite flashes of potential, the Bengals struggled to find consistency on both sides of the ball, scoring 233 points while allowing 423. With a six-game losing streak to close out the season, Braswell will look to regroup and reload in 2025, focusing on player development and building a stronger foundation for the future.

Denton Guyer

2024 Recap: The Guyer Wildcats wrapped up a strong 2024 season with a 10-4 overall record and a 5-2 finish in district play, earning 3rd place in one of the state’s most competitive 6A districts. With a top-20 ranking in Texas and 539 points scored on the season, the Wildcats once again proved they are a consistent playoff threat. Their ability to win in all environments—home, away, and neutral—speaks to the program’s depth and resilience. With momentum still behind them, Guyer remains a major contender heading into 2025.

Lewisville

2024 Recap: The Lewisville Farmers wrapped up a strong 2024 campaign with a 7-4 overall record, including an impressive 6-1 finish in district play, securing second place in one of the more competitive districts in Texas 6A football. Ranked 26th in the state, Lewisville proved to be a consistent force on both sides of the ball—scoring 358 points while only allowing 245 across the season. The Farmers held a 3-2 record at home and went 4-2 on the road, showing resilience regardless of venue. Despite a tough ending to their season with a loss in the first round of playoffs against Allen losing 17-3, Lewisville’s ability to dominate in district play reaffirms their place as a perennial contender in Texas high school football.

The class of 2028 top returning starter is Peter MacDonald V, OL, 6-3 / 285.

Flower Mound

2024 Recap: The Flower Mound Jaguars closed out their 2024 season with an even 5-5 overall record, navigating a challenging district slate with a 2-5 mark that placed them sixth in the standings. Despite the ups and downs, the Jaguars showed flashes of potential—especially on the road, where they finished a strong 4-1. With 301 points scored and 302 allowed, their season was a razor-thin margin away from swinging the other direction. Ranked 80th in Texas, Flower Mound enters the offseason with key areas to build on, especially improving consistency at home and flipping tight games into wins

Scouting Report: The top class of 2026 returning starters are: Carter Massey, WR, 6-1 / 180, Drew Evers, OL, 6-3.5 / 285. The top class of 2027 returning recruits are: Noah Spinks, QB, 6′ / 175, Chase Alve , LB, 6′ / 215.

Hebron

2024 Recap: The Hebron Hawks soared through the 2024 season with an 8-5 overall record, backed by a 4-3 mark in district play to finish fourth. With a top-35 state ranking (TX No. 32), Hebron proved they could hang with the best in Texas 6A. Offensively, the Hawks were explosive, racking up 449 points while the defense gave up 366. They were battle-tested on the road (4-2) and found postseason success at neutral sites (2-0), showing their ability to perform under pressure. Although the year ended on a loss, the Hawks delivered one of the more balanced and exciting seasons in the district.

Marcus

2024 Recap: The Marcus Marauders capped off their 2024 campaign with a solid 6-4 overall record, going 3-4 in district play to land in fifth place. With a .600 winning percentage and a balanced 3-2 record both at home and on the road, Marcus proved to be a steady and competitive squad throughout the season. The offense put up 308 points while the defense held opponents to 279, reflecting tightly contested games. Ranked No. 61 in Texas, the Marauders were in the fight all year long, and with a few more breaks, they could’ve easily pushed higher in the district standings.

Scouting Report: The top class of 2027 recruit returning for Marcus, leading the team, is Colton Nussmeier, QB, 6-3 / 185.

Little Elm

2024 Recap: The 2024 season was a challenging one for the Little Elm Lobos, who finished 0-10 overall and 0-7 in district play, placing 8th in the standings. Despite the tough year, the Lobos showed up each week with fight and resilience, competing in one of Texas 6A’s deepest districts. Offensively, they managed 97 points on the season, while the defense struggled to slow down opponents, giving up 458. Ranked No. 453 in the state, Little Elm will look to regroup and rebuild in the offseason, focusing on development, culture, and laying the groundwork for a turnaround in 2025.

Scouting Report: The top returning class of 2027 recruit for the Lobos is Max Reyes, QB, 6-1, 190.

District Prediction

Coppell enters 2025 as the clear favorite to win District 6A-5 after a dominant 2024 campaign that saw them go 12-1 overall and a perfect 7-0 in district play. With elite execution on both sides of the ball—scoring 564 points and allowing just 264—the Cowboys proved they can control games from start to finish. Backed by a top-three state ranking last season, Coppell’s consistency, depth, and winning culture make them the team to beat once again.
