District 4-6A is once again shaping up to be one of the most competitive and talent-rich districts in the state. With powerhouse programs, rising contenders, and no shortage of college-caliber athletes, every Friday night feels like a playoff game. As the 2025 Texas high school football season approaches, we break down which teams are primed to dominate, who could surprise, and what to watch for in one of the toughest districts in Texas.

Euless Trinity

2024 Recap: The Trojans went 11-2 overall and 7-1 in the district, placing in second place. After a good playoff run going three rounds deep before having their season end with a nail-biter losing to Allen 22-21, we believe the Trojans will have another great season and playoff push for state.

Scouting Report: Out of the backfield is Juntavious Harris, 2026, RB, 5-8 / 170, held 15 total Division I offers and a Texas State Commit. One of the top-rated offensive linemen in the class of 2026 in the nation is SMU commit Pupunagatoa Katoa, OL, 6-3.5 / 365, a three-star recruit who held 23 Division I offers before committing to the Mustangs. Our number-ranked cornerback in the class of 2026 in Texas is a four-star John Meredith III , CB, 6-2 / 175, with 41 Division I offers to go play anywhere in the country. Byron Nelson

2024 Recap: The Bobcats have a strong football team, with several starters returning for the 2025 season. Last season, they finished with an overall record of 8-3 and a district record of 6-2, securing 3rd place. Unfortunately, their postseason journey ended in the first round of the playoffs, where they faced the eventual state champions, North Crowley, and lost 56-21.

Scouting Report: The Bobcats have some talent on the team with Parker Almanza, 2026, TE, 6-3 / 215, and Mahamadou Siby, 2026, CB, 5-9 / 170, who has several Division I offers. In addition to the senior class of next fall, the Bobcats have some young talent with the class of 2028, Ben Odom, QB, 6-0 / 175, and Nolan Hawkins, S, 6-0 / 190.

Southlake Carroll

2024 Recap: The Dragons had a perfect record in district play last season, going 8-0 with a district championship and boasting an overall record of 15-1, with a deep playoff run before losing to in the 6A Division 2 state semifinals to Vandergrift in a close one, 24-17. The Dragons have the team to make another run at a state title.

Leading the trenches on the offensive line is Memphis commit, Carey Clayton, 2026, OL, 6-3 / 270. Leading the way in the class of 2027 for the Dragons is Brody Knowles, WR, 6-4 / 190, with 15 total Division I offers. Blake Gunter, 2027, WR, 6-2 / 180, with 5 total Division I offers. One of the top offensive linemen in the class of 2027 in the nation is Tristan Dare, OL, 6-4 / 260, with 27 Division I offers. The Dragons are loaded at the quarterback position with depth, with talent like the class of 2028 Hudson Tomcheck, 6-3 / 175, who should be next in line to lead the Dragons.

District Prediction

Southlake Carroll enters 2025 with unfinished business. After an undefeated district run and a deep playoff push that ended just short of a title shot, the Dragons return with one goal: finish the job. This year’s squad is stacked across the board — strong in the trenches, explosive on offense, and experienced where it counts. With elite depth and a winning culture, Southlake is the clear favorite to win the district and make another serious run in December.
