The Class of 2028 in Texas high school football is exceptionally rich in talent, showcasing a diverse array of skills and abilities among the young athletes.

As we delve into the rankings, we will be carefully evaluating and ranking the top five recruits at each position, ensuring that we highlight the most promising players who are set to make a significant impact on the field. Below, you will find a detailed list of the top five linebackers who stand out for their impressive performances and potential.

Additionally, we have compiled a list of other noteworthy recruits to keep an eye on as we approach the exciting fall season of 2025, where these athletes will have the opportunity to further demonstrate their skills and possibly elevate their rankings even higher.

Top Five 2028 Texas High School Football Linebackers

#1. Brayden Bonik, RB / ATH, Ridge Point, 6-0 / 185

Bonik has seen his recruitment skyrocket this month, nearly tripling the number of Division I scholarship offers from 7 to a total of 21. Recently, schools that have extended offers include Texas A&M (June 10th), Oklahoma (June 5th), Tulsa (June 3rd), Arizona (June 3rd), and Wake Forest (June 3rd), among others.

Bonik is an athlete who can dominate on both sides of the ball, playing as a running back and linebacker. However, his skills are likely best suited for linebacker, which is the position most schools are recruiting him for. He is a highly rated player who can undoubtedly be among the best in his class at multiple positions and has the pedigree to succeed at the next level. His father, Devin Bonik, played for the Oklahoma State Cowboys in the early 1980s and later coached in the NFL for 11 years with the Jaguars, Titans, and Falcons.

#2. Amir Adkinson, LB, Lancaster, 6-1 / 195

Currently, Adkinson is regarded as one of the premier linebacker recruits in Texas for the class of 2028, having received a total of 12 Division I scholarship offers. Notable institutions such as Baylor, Houston, Nebraska, and Oregon State, among others, have all presented offers to Amir. He is a versatile linebacker capable of penetrating gaps, making tackles for loss, and demonstrating the athleticism necessary to generate turnovers. Anticipate Amir to emerge as a key recruit this season and to have a considerable influence on the performance of the Lancaster Tigers.

#3. Rhyder Allison-Butler, LB, Smithson Valley, 5-10 / 190

Rhyder Allison-Butler, a skilled linebacker from Smithson Valley, is recognized for his athletic abilities and proficiency in run defense. He has garnered considerable attention from Division I programs and has recently received his initial scholarship offers from institutions such as UNLV and UT Martin. As he continues to produce game footage, it is anticipated that Rhyder will gain further recognition and enhance his recruitment prospects this fall.

#4. Lincoln Dyke, LB, Mount Pleasant, 6-2 / 205

With a remarkable physique for a young athlete, Lincoln is already attracting significant attention from collegiate programs. Having received an early offer from Texas Tech, Dyke has the potential to become one of the leading prospects in his class at the linebacker position for the foreseeable future. Although there is currently limited film available, this season is expected to generate considerable interest from colleges and possibly lead to scholarship offers for Lincoln.

#5. Camden Yard Singleton, LB / ATH, Midland Legacy, 6-2 / 175

Camden is another highly regarded linebacker prospect, notable for his athletic physique, long arms, and extended frame, which give him a formidable presence on the defensive side of the game. We believe Camden has the potential to excel and may rise above several players on college football recruiting boards, as well as in our rankings this fall.
