Here are the players that impressed me the most from last weeks first games of the Texas High School football season. This are only a few players from the games that I watched. Central Texas Area Standouts of Week 2

Wynter smith, 2027, QB, Brandeis, 6-2, 200

Wynter threw for 174 yards passing on 24 carries and had 4 touchdowns.

DK Garza, 2026, RB, Alamo Heights

DK rushed for 447 yards, on 25 carries and had an eye-popping 8 touchdowns.

Houston Area Standouts of Week 2

Camden Hughes, 2027, QB, The Woodlands

Completed 24 out of 34 passes for 471 yards and 6 touchdowns. It was an amazing night last week against Klein Cain High School. A breakout season could be on the horizon for Hughes, who already has two Division I offers from schools like North Texas and UTSA.

Benny Easter, 2027, WR, 6-2 / 190, Summer Creek

Benny Easter had a huge game last week in Summer Creek’s home opener against Shadow Creek, racking up 214 all-purpose yards, including a kickoff return for a touchdown. He holds four Division I offers from Colorado State, Kansas, Oklahoma State, and UTEP. In 2024, Easter earned Texas District 21-6A first-team selection as a sophomore and helped Summer Creek achieve a 12-3 overall record, making it to the Class 6A-II state semifinals.

Julian Cromartie, 2027, WR, The Woodlands College Park

Julian is an elite wide receiver recruit with 11 Division I offers. He is the son of former NFL player Antonio Cromartie. Last week, he had 9 catches for 239 yards and two touchdowns, leading his team to victory.

Braden Baker, 2027, Qb , Cy Ranch , 6-4 / 170

Baker led his team to a bounce-back victory after a week one loss against Thompson, dominating in week two against New Caney with a 62-7 blowout. Baker threw for 414 yards, completing 12 of his 15 passes and racking up an impressive 5 touchdowns on the night. He is a player whose recruitment is just starting to heat up, with four Division I offers from schools like Baylor, Houston, Louisiana Tech, and UTSA.

Colson Collins, 2027, QB, 6-1, 180, John Cooper

Colson is a name many college coaches will get to know this season. Last week, he had a phenomenal game, throwing for 330 yards, completing 21 of his 31 passes, and scoring six touchdowns.

Keisean Henderson, 2026, QB, Legacy SSS

It’s no surprise Keisean can ball. The Houston Cougars commit is a number one rated quarterback and arguably the best in the country. He has had a tremendous start to the 2025 season. Last week, he went 30-for-38, throwing for 587 yards and five passing touchdowns, in addition to rushing for 116 yards and another touchdown in a shootout that the Titans narrowly lost to Port Arthur Memorial, 53-49.

Mike Brown, 2026, WR, Legacy SSS

Brown was his quarterback’s favorite target last week, as he usually is, catching four touchdowns for 216 yards on just 11 touches. It was a phenomenal game for the Aggies commit.

DFW Area Standouts of Week 2

Julian Caldwell, 2027, WR, Argyle

Caldwell recorded 10 catches for 263 yards and four touchdowns in Argyle’s 35-7 victory against Midlothian Heritage. Additionally, Caldwell contributed 37 yards through kick returns.

John Catlin Jr., CB, Denton Ryan

Catlin prevented two extra points, made an interception, recovered a fumble, and recorded four tackles in Ryan’s 20-12 victory against Mansfield Timberview.

Landon Riley, 2027, CB, Lincoln

Riley scored a touchdown on an interception return, recorded four tackles, recovered a fumble, and achieved two pass breakups in Lincoln’s 61-9 victory against Bryan Adams.

Beau Wendel, 2026, QB/ATH, Midlothian

The senior QB accumulated 372 total yards and scored five touchdowns in Midlothian’s 59-41 victory against Ennis.

Cam Newton, 2026, RB, Prosper Walnut Grove

Newton recorded 31 carries for 283 yards and five touchdowns in Walnut Grove’s 49-24 victory against Little Elm.
