Spring football has been under way and the Texas High School football class of 2026 running backs is stacked.
Here are some of the up-in-coming running backs to know this year for next fall. If we have missed anyone please let us know who else should be on this list.
Xavier Watson, RB , Royse City, 5-10 / 175
Xavier’s latest film from two years ago, however, what he did show was the ability to be a shifty runner, and one who has the speed to take runs all the way for house calls. Showed patience letting plays develop and finding the open holes along the offensive line.
Dazjhon Taylor , RB , Fort Bend Marshall, 5-9 / 160
Dazjhon has some speed that has caught the attention of some college coaching staffs. With one offer at the moment from Texas Tech, Dazjhon could be one running back that puts out some more good film this season for the Fort Bend Marshall High School football program.

Trae Hill , RB , Cedar Park, 5-10 / 202
Trae has several Division I offers and has started to heat up his recruitment even further this spring. A long-stride runner who can break runs off to the outside and tear apart defenses out of the backfield. Trae has the speed to go untouched into the end zone from 50-plus yards out, and his athleticism is only one reason why he has caught not only ours but the eyes of many college programs across the country as well. Look for Trae to make an impact on the field this fall for Cedar Park.
Derrian Anderson , RB , Beaumont United 5-8 / 169
A multi-sport athlete with elite athleticism, Derrian can run in between the tackles and pick up some tough yardage or catch out of the backfield and make an impact on the field. We think of Derrian unleashes his speed and improves his after-contact balance with the ability to shed some arm tackles; Derrian could be a name that rises among the ranks of his class this fall.
Jevalen Wade , RB , Bryan, 5-8 / 160
Here is a running back who has the ability to be a breakout star this season. Jevalen has all of the skills necessary to be a division I caliber athlete that has the speed and agility to break away from tacklers and take runs all the way for six. Jevalen has elite awareness and vision when it comes to finding open holes along the offensive line and then exploding through them to help his team on offense rack up points on the scoreboard. A potential every-down back who many could hear his is name being mentioned more and more often in recruiting conversations this fall.
These Lone Star state of pick of the class of 2026 running backs are not listed or ranked in order and are just as good as many highly rated and recruited athletes in their class.
