Scouting Report & Evaluation
Zion is a vertical and red zone threat with elite speed and agility. He is explosive at the snap of the ball and quick off the line of scrimmage (LOS). He looks light on his feet and has the vertical ability to win fifty-fifty balls. With his lengthy frame and long arms, he has a large catch radius and plenty of room to add more lean mass at the next level.
Route-running acumen and footwork will improve and be more evident on film next season. However, he does show the ability to get open in short-yardage situations in the red zone and uses his catch radius and frame to his advantage. Zion also has the potential to be a receiver who can rack up yardage after the catch (YAC). With improvements to his open-field moves and strength after contact, he could dramatically enhance his recruiting stock.
He is a hands catcher who excels at catching the football away from his body, looking the ball in, and making plays after the catch. All factors considered, Zion is undoubtedly a Division I caliber prospect who could develop into a prominent recruit. With the improvements mentioned above, there is no reason why Zion could not end up with plenty of stars and offers next to his name and contribute to programs at the next level.
