Scouting Report

Maximus is an athletic offensive line prospect; however, he is significantly undersized for the Division I level at his position. He does show enough talent for the lower levels of college football, such as DII or lower, but his skill set, technique, footwork, speed, strength, and physicality all need improvement. He displays the ability to pull around and kick out edge or next-level defenders. At times, he looks physical in his play, but there is still room for growth. Maximus must showcase his abilities to college coaches by dominating at the high school level, pancaking defenders, and seeking extra work. He appears proficient in both pass protection and run blocking, but his technique and footwork can improve in both areas, as well as delivering a heavier-handed punch to defenders to pancake them. The center position would give Maximus the best chance of making it to the college level. We highly suggest he make a case to his high school coach to play this position if his goal is to play college football. If this is possible, he should work on snapping this offseason and focus on all the areas mentioned.

Positives

  • Athleticism shows in pulling ability.
  • Speed and agility look great.
  • Can pull and kick out the end and next-level defenders.
  • Maintains low pad level and leverage.
  • Proficient in pass protection. Good footwork and technique.

Negatives

  • Undersized relative to position at the DI level.
  • Too many routine plays on film.
  • Hand placement during pass pro can improve.
  • Punch versus the pass & run needs to improve, adding a more heavy-handed/devastating punch.
  • Physically needs improvement. Need to pancake defenders a lot more next season.
