Scouting Report: Jayden Scott, 2026, LB, Vista Murrieta HS

By:

Jayden has the size and skill to play at the next level. He possesses a lengthy frame with long arms and has ample room to add more mass. He plays very well against the run, stopping plays from progressing, shooting gaps, and exploding into the backfield to make tackles for losses or pressure the quarterback, causing hurries or incompletions. He is a solid open-field tackler who can play both middle linebacker and outside linebacker. He maintains gap control and run lanes effectively.
Jayden defends well against both the run and pass, making plays on the ball while covering receivers; however, his technique and footwork in coverage could improve. He displays the ability to deliver big hits to ball carriers, and it would be great to see more of that on film next season. A more aggressive and physical approach will enhance his recruitment chances.
Many routine plays appear on film, and Jayden must show college coaches that he can dominate and make big plays or cause turnovers on Friday nights. His speed and agility are proficient; he can run down ball carriers and cover sideline to sideline or disrupt plays in the backfield. He is a twitchy defender who breaks on the ball quickly. Overall, Jayden has the potential and size to play at the next level if he makes further improvements to his technique and skills.
