The 2025 Texas high school football season is nearing closer. These emerging defensive talents have demonstrated their talent on film and may transition from hopeful prospects to well-known figures this fall. Today, we highlight the class of 2026 cornerbacks who possess the skills, talent, and a genuine chance to achieve a breakout year.
Garrett Stennett, CB, Weiss
HT/WT: 6-0 / 175
Offers: 7
Garrett has multiple Division I offers from schools like Colorado State, North Texas, Texas State, and others. A ballhawk who has a nose for the football and sniffing out plays to make a play on the ball and is an extremely proficent open field tackler. Garrett looks like a cornerback who could have a breakout season and double, if not triple his total Division I offers.
Jaylen Gordon, CB, Richland
HT/WT: 5-9 / 155
Offers: 4
Arizona State, Baylor, SMU, and UTEP have all offered Gordon and we suspect more to come for Jaylen this fall. A threat on special teams as well as on defense. A quick twitch defender who can fast break in front of passes to receivers and take interceptions all the way into the endzone with his athleticism and speed.
De’ Shuan DJ Butler, CB, Cy Lakes
HT/WT: 5-9 / 160
Offers: 1
Butler had an amazing 2024 season with 135 total tackles, 5 tackles for losses, 2 forced fumbles, 1 sack, and 1interception (according to his X/Twitter). A hybrid player who plays more like a linebacker that a defensive back or safety. A player we believe who could solidify his spot as a safety prospect who can come down and play in the box and rack up plenty of tackles and tackles for losses on defense.
Karson Tutwiler, S, Shoemaker
HT/WT: 6-2 / 185
Offers: NA
Karson has tremendous size to be able to compete as either a hybird safety or linebacker. A solid open field tackler who could have a breakout season in 2025. He checks off a lot of the boxes as a next level athlete who could put some good tape for college coaches to start recruiting him this fall.
Tre Burton Jr., S, The Colony
HT/WT: 5-9 / 170
Offers: 1
In 2024, Burton had 58 total tackles, 5 interecptions, 3 pass breakups, and 1 tackle for loss (according to his hudl). Burton has nose for the football and reads the quarterbacks eyes well, break on the football, and create turnovers for his team. A player who could have a breakout season on the horizon, college coaches should keep an eye on this player who could be a great corner prospect whom with more development could be a good contribtor.
Parker Stewart, CB, The Woodlands
HT/WT: 5-10 / 165
Offers: 3
Arkansas State, Drake, and Montanta State have all offered Stewart. A player who contribute on all phases of the game on defense, offense, and special teams. In 2024, Stewart had 5 interceptions, which two of them where taking into the endzone, as well as contributing on both offense and special teams. Stewart has elite speed and agility and can make plays with the football anytime the ball is in his hands. A player who could land himself on many recruiting boards this fall.
