Across the U.S., universities are increasingly pursuing exceptional high school football talent for their athletic programs. In Texas, known for its strong football heritage, high school athletes consistently emerge as top recruits. In response to growing competition, many college programs are focusing on underclassmen, including the promising class of 2028, earlier than ever. This proactive recruitment helps identify future stars before they gain recognition.

Notable emerging defensive linemen recruits from the class of 2028 have showcased impressive skills, statistics, and leadership qualities. Below are some top offensive linemen recruits from the class of 2028 in Texas high school football to watch.

Top Five Sophomore Defensive Linemen in Texas

Noah Ross , DT , Richardson , 6-4 / 295

With Ross’s impressive size and ability at such a young age, it’s no wonder that some of the top college football programs have taken notice. Universities like Auburn, Florida State, SMU, Texas Tech, and USC have all offered him. There isn’t much film on Ross, if any at all, and he is barely on social media. However, college coaches must know something we don’t, which is obvious: Noah is an exceptional talent and could be one of the very best in his class, if not the nation.

Fine Taufatofua Vailahi , DE , Trinity , 6-2 / 235

Fine is one of the top defensive linemen in his class in the state. With eight total Division I offers from schools like Baylor, SMU, Texas State, and Washington State, Fine has caught the attention of many Division I programs. It will be no shock if he continues to raise his recruiting stock this fall. Fine is an all-around athlete and a beast off the edge who can create problems for offenses trying to block him. He uses his athleticism, physical playing style, and pure strength to overpower blockers and make plays in the backfield. On the offensive side of the ball, he can run over defenders in short-yardage situations as a running back or even line up as a tight end if needed. He is truly a special athlete to watch.

Oswald Jacquet , DL , C.E. King , 6-2 / 290

A big defensive lineman who moves well for his size, Oswald looks light on his feet and can pressure the quarterback or tackle running backs for losses. He is a multi-sport athlete, playing football and participating in throwing events in track and field. Oswald is already attracting attention from the media and college football programs, having received three early Division I offers.

Aaron Snell , DL , Waxahachie , 6-0 / 265

Aaron comes from a football family. His brother, JayQuan Snell, is a top prospect in the 2027 class and is currently ranked as the No. 1 safety in Texas. Aaron also has another brother, Kenedy Snell, a former TCU wide receiver. Many college football programs recognize Snell as a valuable prospect, which is why he has received offers from SMU and Southern Miss.

Logan Lokey , DE , Denton Guyer , 6-3 / 230

Lokey is a special young talent for Guyer, with family ties to the next level through his father, Derek Lokey, a former University of Texas defensive lineman. He is a two-way player with the athleticism to project as a top tight end or defensive line prospect. Only time will tell, but one thing is certain: whatever position Logan ends up playing, he will be one of the best in his class.
