Scouting Report
Johnson brings the physicality and toughness you want in a feature back. At 5-10, 195, he’s built compact with a low center of gravity and the strength to churn through contact. He’s an explosive runner who wastes little motion — hits open lanes hard and finishes forward. Shows legitimate downhill power, capable of plowing through would-be tacklers and dragging piles for extra yardage. Johnson also displays good balance after contact, keeping his legs driving through traffic and rarely going down on first hit. What separates him from average high school backs is his ability to play with both patience and intent — he’s not afraid to let blocks develop before bursting through.
He’s also flashed reliable hands out of the backfield, catching in rhythm and running crisp routes for a player his size. That two-way ability projects well for collegiate systems that utilize backs in screen or swing concepts. To elevate his game, he needs to enhance his top-end speed and lateral agility — improving his ability to layer cuts, make defenders miss in space, and finish runs for longer gains. Johnson has the frame, mentality, and baseline athleticism to be a next-level prospect with continued development.
