Okonji is an explosive, compact running back with real breakaway juice when he finds daylight. He runs with urgency and shows the ability to plant his foot and get vertical quickly, flashing a true one-cut skill set that allows him to slip through creases and beat defenders to the edge. His speed and agility translate both inside and outside, and he’s comfortable pressing the hole between the tackles before bouncing runs wide. When he’s decisive, he can make defenders miss in the backfield and turn routine carries into chunk gains.
From a projection standpoint, Okonji’s game still needs refinement to reach its full ceiling. He is undersized relative to most DI backs, which puts a premium on finishing runs and improving balance through contact. Film needs to show him breaking arm tackles, maintaining speed after first contact, and consistently turning explosive runs into touchdowns. There is limited evidence of lateral change-of-direction on tape, and his pass-game value remains largely unproven, with no consistent catching or blocking reps shown. Special teams snaps or slot alignments could significantly boost his versatility profile.
Overall, Okonji is a speed-based RB with upside who must round out his all-around skill set and improve film quality to gain traction with college coaches.
