Leins brings a lean, athletic frame to the middle of the defense and plays with discipline and anticipation. He’s a technically sound linebacker who diagnoses plays quickly, trusts his reads, and fills gaps with authority. Shows good patience before triggering—lets the play develop, then closes fast with an efficient downhill burst. When he arrives, he finishes—stout open-field tackler who halts the run from gaining extra yards. Lateral quickness stands out; he can mirror runners sideline-to-sideline and stay clean through traffic. In coverage, he’s fluid enough to drop into zones and stay attached on short and intermediate routes.

Leins also shows flashes of disruption as a blitzer—getting pressure, forcing throws, and occasionally punching out the football. He’s consistent and reliable, but his tape lacks the “wow” plays that jump off the screen. Needs to improve block-shedding technique—specifically, delivering a heavier initial strike with extended arms and freeing himself to make a clean tackle. Adding more strength through the shoulders and upper body will elevate his ability to take on and shed larger linemen.Projection: Projects as a DII/DIII prospect with strong football IQ, lateral speed, and tackling fundamentals—an every-down linebacker who can earn early snaps at the next level.
