As we are already more than midway through our rankings for the Class of 2027 in Texas high school football, we have identified many exceptional athletes who are gaining recognition and advancing in both the rankings and the recruiting landscape. Today, we focus on a selection of emerging linebackers who had impressive performances during the 2024 season and whose recruitment prospects are improving as we shift from spring football to the camp season. As coaches continue to assess talent, we will provide our forecasts for those players we anticipate will experience breakout seasons this fall and further enhance their standing.
Cam Pettijohn, LB, Anna, 6-1 / 210
One linebacker in the class of 2027 who has truly exploded onto the scene and seen his recruitment take off is Cam Pettijohn. His Division I offers have come in recent months from schools like Sam Houston State (June 1st), UTEP (May 13th), UTSA (April 1st), Sacramento State (Feb 1st), Ball State (Jan. 30th), and Southern Miss (Jan. 23). Formerly at McKinney High School and now at Anna High School, Pettijohn is a tough, physical linebacker who can lay out ball carriers or rush off the edge to make plays in the backfield. He possesses elite speed, explosiveness at the snap, and pure strength. Look for him to be special this fall, and expect his recruiting stock to keep rising.

Bryce Breeden, LB, Bridge City, 6-1 / 205
Bryce has received all of his scholarship offers this spring from Texas Tech (March 5), Oklahoma State (April 19), Baylor (April 26), and Houston (May 1) after an impressive 2024 season. Last fall, he recorded 116 total tackles, 20 tackles for loss, 6 sacks, 4 forced fumbles, 2 fumble recoveries, and 4 pass breakups. He is a solid all-around defender from the linebacker position who can make plays against both the run and the pass. Look for his continued success in boosting his recruiting stock this fall.
Cade Haug, LB, Kingwood, 6-1 / 210
Cade’s resume is impressive, showcasing his production since his freshman season and continuing through his sophomore year in 2024. His combined career stats up to this point include 215 total tackles (62 in 2023), 5 tackles for loss, 4 forced fumbles, 3 fumble recoveries, 2 interceptions, 3 sacks, and 1 interception touchdown. He is a highly productive player with a strong motor who can make plays all over the field. Offers include: Toledo, UNLV, Arizona State, Utah, Lamar, Arizona, Nebraska, and UTEP.
Dewayne Ingram, LB, Lakeview Centennial, 6-2 / 210
Dewayne is someone to watch this fall, as he could have a breakout season ahead. He recently received his first Division I scholarship offer from Colorado State at the beginning of the year, and more offers seem to be on the way. He is a hybrid defender who can play as a linebacker or line up as an edge defender. With tremendous size and build, he already looks and plays like a next-level college athlete. We believe that this fall, Ingram’s recruiting stock could rise significantly with more film and playing time under the Friday night lights.
