While it’s heating up outside, some Texas high school football prospects’ recruitment is also heating up and taking off. Today, we will highlight some of the standout edges who had impressive seasons in 2024 and are now seeing their recruitment skyrocket. With their recruiting stock on the rise, here are some of the top edge recruits to know this fall.
Brayden Booth, Edge, South San Antonio, 6-5 / 195
Possibly no one else has seen his recruitment heat up and take off more this summer than Brayden Booth. Receiving Division I scholarship offers in droves recently from schools like UTEP (June 10th), Wisconsin (May 14th), Stanford (May 9th), Colorado State (May 8th), among others, bringing his total to 13 Division I scholarships. For perspective, Booth had six Division I scholarships last season and has now doubled that amount in 2025, along with becoming one of the top-rated and ranked edge prospects in the nation.
Alexander Coey, Edge, Conroe, 6-4 / 235
After a tremendous 2024 season, Coey made his name known with his high motor and pursuit to the football, size, length, and excellent technique as a defensive lineman off the edge. Earning all of his Division I scholarship offers this year after impressing many college coaches last season. Coey has earned offers from schools like Baylor, Duke, Michigan State, Oregon State, Stanford, and others (9 total). Look for a tremendous season this fall for Coey and for his recruiting stock to continue to rise.
James Harris, Edge, Cy Falls, 6-2 / 225
After 50 total tackles, 15 tackles for losses, 6 sacks, 1 forced fumble, and 1 fumble recovery, and showed college coaches that Harris could be a menace last season in 2024 for opposing offenses. The offers started rolling in for Harris with all of his 6 total Division I scholarship offers coming this year from schools like the UNC Tar Heels, Texas Tech Red Raiders, and others. James is an athlete who can play many positions along the defensive line and dominate. He has the strength, speed, and athleticism to get to the quarterback or cause turnovers and turn them into points for his team. We believe a massive season is on the horizon for Harris and one that will be bring plenty of stars and offers next to his name.

Carmelo Clawson, Edge, Waxahachie, 6-1 / 220
In 2024, Clawson had a terrific season, recording 77 total tackles, 11.5 sacks, and 14 tackles for losses. A highly productive player who plays with a high motor and has a nose for sniffing out the football and stopping plays dead in their tracks. Colorado State, Southern Miss, and San Diego State are some of the latest offers Clawson has received.
